2024 Winter Series Round 3 – Stump Bay, Taupo

Welcome back to the amazing Stump Bay, at the Waiotaka Scenic Reserve, on Frethey Drive, turn-off from SH 1, just north of Turangi.
A perfect spot for racing, parking, relaxing and spectating. Come along and join us for the last rounds of our 2024 Winter Series! There is plenty of space for trailers, tents and gazebos to set up on the shores, so bring along the whole family!
Stump Bay is also a dog-friendly venue, with available toilets on-site and cafes can be found in Motuoapa (5mins North) or Turangi (10mins South).

VESSEL IS NOT ALLOWED IN WAIKATO WATER 7 DAYS PRIOR TO EVENT
Your JetSki and all your gear MUST be DRY and free of any foreign matter, for 72 hours prior off any waterway in New Zealand – EXCEPT Waikato river downstream from Lake Taupo .
If your vessel has been in ANY waterway in New Zealand, you are required to have undertaken the Check/Clean/Dry process before arrival in order to present a Clean and Dry craft and personal gear for Biosecurity / Scrutineering check.
If your vessel has been used in the Waikato river or upstream of Mangakino
CHECK
- Run the motor for 15 seconds
- Thoroughly check and remove and weed, mud or clam like matter from the boat and trailer
- Remove the bung and drain any water from the vessell, onto grass and NOT anywhere near stormwater drainage systems
CLEAN
For cleaning of your vessell
- Hose down both the inside and outside of your vessell, onto grass and NOT anywhere near stormwater drainage systems
For cleaning of your gear – Lifejackets, wetsuits, back braces, booties, gloves and anchor ropes
- Soak in hot water above 60 degrees Celsius for 1 minute
- Soak in 50-55 degree Celsius water for 5 minutes
- Soak in 45 degree water for 20minutes
- Mix 10% household bleach with water and soak for 1 hour
DRY
- Dry inside your vessell with a rag or towel until thoroughly dry
- Wipe down and the vessell and leave uncovered for 72 hours
If your vessel has been used in Waikato River , downstream OR not at all for 7 days prior to the event
- Check and remove any weeds, mud, clam like matter
- Remove vessell’s bung to drain and remove any pooled water
- Leave vessell and gear to dry completely
You will be disqualified if either, your ski enters the water before Scrutineering, or if any biosecurity hazards are detected on your ski or any of your gear.
All riders will be required to sign a bio security declaration upon vessel Scrutineering, to declare compliance and liability.
All vessels will be need to be sprayed with DX50 prior to entering the water. This will be done by an offical.
Trailer Launching
There is plenty of parking at the reserve and if you have a trolley you can launch your ski directly off the beach. There will be plenty of people to help bring your ski up to the bank, even if you need another vehicle to help!
If you need a boat ramp, the closest are around 10-15 minute ride away. Tokaanu Southern Boat Ramp is south of the venue near Turangi and Motuoapa Marina, just north of the venue.

Race Fees
Race Fees should be paid online prior to the event, with your name as a reference.
Register online during our early bird discount and pay only $120. Early Bird ends Wednesday 2nd October 12am (midnight) to allow money to show in our account.
Registering after Wednesday 2nd will bring your total to $150 so get in quick!

Event prize-giving and End of Season prize-giving will be held in the boating club at the end of the day.
Race Rules
All riders MUST read and comply with our Race Rules. In local events all new riders and those who have competed for less than two years, will compete as a Restricted Rider, at a maximum competition level of GP2.
New Riders
New Riders are always welcome! You will be fully supported by our experienced riders from beginning to end. Before competing, new riders should familiarise themselves with the class their ski qualifies for. You’ll find everything you need to know in our race information.
