Summer Series Rules

To qualify for points towards the end-of-season trophy, a racer must be a financial member with a fully paid membership, and successfully compete in at least 50% of the seasons’ official race events.

Here is a quick list of the standard practices, along with the 2023 Amendments. Attached above you will find the official JSRNZ Rulebook.

  • Helmets and back braces are mandatory for all riders and must be worn at all times.
  • Helmets must meet the criteria of Snell, Dot or ECE 22.05 and be fitted with a DD closure or slide clip.
  • At least 50% of the helmet must be high-vis in bright colours, either yellow, orange, red, magenta, pink or green. Black, white and blue will not be accepted. The final decision will be of the race director.
  • PFDs are to have a minimum of 2 ‘closures’ – zip and buckle. It is highly recommended to have 2 or more buckles.
  • Holders are required for beach starts. 2x runabouts and 1x pole ski. It is recommended that all holders wear gloves and footwear.
  • Marshalls can wear open-face helmets providing safety standards are met.
  • Race numbers must be clearly visible from 50m away. The height of numbers must be 220mm and the distance between the numbers must be at least 12mm.
  • Race numbers are to be in Arial Bold font, printed black on white background, or white on black background. If unsure, please email with a clear photo and await approval.
  • Race numbers will be available for purchase for those who do not pass scrutineering.
