Winter Series 2021 – Round 3 – Orewa Surf Club

Orewa Beach on the Hibiscus Coast provides a perfect, sheltered beach setting for our 3rd round of racing this Winter.  Whether you’re a seasoned racer or a Rookie, you’ll just love this race venue.  Come and give racing a try!  We guarantee you’ll be ‘hooked’!!

Format

You’ll be competing in three races of 25 mins each (plus a lap), racing around a 1.5km open course with a rolling start.  We have a half hour break between races.  There’ll be plenty of wave jumping action around the 14 buoy track.  All skis race together, (depending on the size of the Rookie class) with points allocated to the respective classes, with points counting towards end of season trophies.

Boat Ramps

There are 2 ramps – Orewa Beach (Marine View) and Orewa Estuary.  These both have limited parking but you can park at the Surf Life Club.  No vehicles are permitted to park on the beach.

Rookies/First Time Riders – $50 Entry Fee (Includes Day Licence)

This will be a great course and is perfect for first timer rookies.  All classes of ski are welcome.  Apart from your ski you’ll need to bring a helmet (motor cross with no visor), lifejacket, back brace and shoes/booties.  You will receive full instructions at Riders Brief and full support from our seasoned riders and Race Director.

RACE CLASSES

GP4 – Seadoo Sparks & Yamaha EX

GP3 – Skis under 200hp and naturally aspirated

GP2 – Skis from 200hp to 300hp

GP1 – 300hp, open skis with modifications

RULES

All riders MUST read and comply with our Race Rules. This includes NZ Supplementary Rules.

Novice Riders please pay particular attention to Supplementary Rule 301.01.17 – In local events all new riders and those who have competed for less than two years, will compete as a novice, at a maximum competition level of GP2.

Food and Drink

The Beach House Eatery is at the surf club and there are also a few cafes just over the road.

Prize Giving

The day concludes with a Prizegiving on the beach. Spot prizes included.

REGISTRATION

Early Bird Fees 

Pay online before the event and the fees will be $110 ($80 Race Entry + $30 Day Licence if you don’t have an Annual Race Licence).  Early Bird entry closes Thursday evening before the event to allow money to show in our account.

Pay on the Day – $130 ($100 if you hold a valid 2020-21 Annual Race Licence)

If you prefer to pay on the day the entry fee will be $130 ($80 Race Entry + $50 Day Licence if you don’t have an Annual Race Licence).
