2023 GRAND PRIX & final rounds of Trev Terry Yamaha Summer Series

2023 GRAND PRIX

This prestigous event is the grand finale of the Summer short-course Series and attracts riders from across New Zealand in competition for a coveted title.  Held over the 22nd and 23rd of April, at Stump Bay on Lake Taupo, the two day event will be run as a Championship with 8 races in each class, including Runabouts GP1 to GP4and Poleskis GP1 and GP3.  See here for more information on race classes.  Registrations will define the classes that will be run, according to UIM rules.

The venue for the event is Stump Bay, at the Waiotaka Scenic Reserve, on Frethey Drive, turn-off from SH 1, just north of Turangi. This will be our first event at this beautiful venue. A perfect spot for racing, parking, relaxing and spectating.

Please note that we have not secured a food or coffee trailer for the weekend, please ensure to bring your own food for both days.

Riders may compete on a Day Licence ($40 a day) if they haven’t completed the requirements of an annual licence.

A SPECIAL EARLY BIRD ENTRY of $250 for both days (plus $40 license for each day) is available for this event!!

Payment on the Day – $300 for both days (plus Race License).

ROUNDS 6 & 7 SUMMER SERIES

The sixth and seventh rounds are the final two rounds of the Summer Series and will be held concurrently with the 2023 GRAND PRIX.  Please note: Only financial members with an Annual Licence are eligible to race for End of Season points.  If you want to know where you stand in the series, see the 2022-23 Summer Race Results, here.

The Prize-giving for Round 6 will be held on the beach after racing.

Round 6 & 7 Only Early Bird Entry

A SPECIAL EARLY BIRD ENTRY of $200 for the weekend is available to riders for this event!! (Round 6 & 7 only entry). If you’re just racing one day the fee will be $100. Please ensure you make payment into our account at the same time as you register.

Payment on the Day – $125 for a single day or $250 for both days (plus Race Licence).

FURTHER INFORMATION

Trailer Launching

There is plenty of parking at the reserve and if you have a trolley you can launch your ski directly off the beach. If you need a boat ramp, the closest are around 10-15 minute ride away. Tokaanu Southern Boat Ramp is south of the venue near Turangi and Motuoapa Marina, just north of the venue.

End of Season & Grand Prix Prize-giving

The Prize-giving for Round 7, End of Season & Grand Prix will be held at the Tokaanu Water Sports Centre, Kaiwaka Road from 6pm on Sunday 23 April.  A light meal will be provided.  Bring your own drinks.

First Time Riders

First Time Riders are very welcome!  You will be fully supported by experienced riders from beginning to end.  Prior to competing, new riders should familiarise themselves with our race rules and race information.

Race Numbers

All riders must have an official Race Number on their ski.  Please email: info@jetskiracingnz.com to apply for a race number.  Your race numbers must comply with the minimum size of 300mm x 300mm black on a white background.

Annual Membership

After your first race event, you’ll need to join the club in order to compete.  Click here to learn more about becoming a club member.

Race License

Riders who do not have a 2022/23 licence, who have raced with the club less than 3 times may race on a Day Licence ($40 a day) but must then purchase an Annual Race Licence and complete the NZPBF medical.

Rules

All riders MUST read and comply with our Race Rules. This includes NZ Supplementary Rules.

Novice Riders please pay particular attention to Supplementary Rule 301.01.17 – In local events all new riders and those who have competed for less than two years, will compete as a novice, at a maximum competition level of GP2.
